nn Medlock is the fortunate daughter of Olive Edna Litz Medlock of Washington DC, and Frank Wesley Medlock of Graniteville, South Carolina. Olive died June 3, 2004; Frank, who was born in 1912, lives in Aiken, South Carolina.
Ann attended 17 schools and colleges, since father Frank was career Navy. She has a Bachelor of Arts degree, magna cum laude, from the University of Maryland, a little brother named Robert Courtney Medlock, in Indianapolis, and four kids: Cynthia Medlock is an interior designer who stages properties for sale and sells them, just north of Manhattan; Philip Courtney Crawford designs user interfaces and travels the world for Microsoft; David Andrew Medlock is a facilities manager at AmGen in Seattle; and her newly found son, Peter Newbould, is Chief Lobbyist for the American Psychological Association. Peter, who was adopted and beautifully raised by Jack and Mollie Newbould, first met Ann in 2004. All of these offspring have produced still more people, each and every one of those children brilliant, charming and good-hearted.
Ann is married to John Albert Graham, Harvard College '64. Ann and John work together at the Giraffe Heroes Project, and write every weekend at opposite ends of the Pattern Language house.
John's offspring are Malory Graham, creator of Reel Grrls, director of an aikido dojo in Seattle and a videographer; and Jason Graham, who organizes tours for Americans going abroad. His young daughters are brilliant, charming and good-hearted.
The "blending" of John and Ann's families matches the successful blending of their work lives. Together since 1982, they encourage others whose young marriages may have failed to give it another go when maturity might be on their side.
